This featured podcast/interview is with Charlie Richardson who ran CR Aircraft models in California from the early 80's until about 1997. Charlie was one of the most innovative and artistic sailplane designers of his time creating classic slope and thermal gliders like the Renegade, Climmax HLG, Contender, Turbo, and Raider F3. This interview took place at his home in S. California in 2008.

Charlie was the guy who got me started in r/c soaring and was my mentor for many years teaching me how to fly, build, and repair gliders. We traveled to many contests and flying sites around the US testing new designs and showing off our radical flying styles to his fans. I also worked for him building planes and designing the logos, box art, and other graphics for the company. My classic films Endless Lift and Endless Lift 2 feature lots of CR designs flying and you will see both Charlie and I flying aerobatics and competing in slope races.

In this hour-long podcast interview (MP3 format 47MB) we discuss Charlie's start in R/C, his design process, and how his cutting-edge gliders came to be.
